A former train station houses a Kansas City BBQ restaurant
Our next stop was the town's welcome .2 visitors nearly *** century ago. All aboard to Wabash BBQ. You're eating in *** train station, 100 year old train station and manager Eric has been here for 22 years. The building set up where the kitchen is actually dead. In the middle of the restaurant. It's about 55 people on each side. This mission style red brick ornate station was built around 1927, welcoming visitors to its springs and it wasn't turned into *** restaurant until 70 years later in 1997. And although it is about 30 minutes away, they claim to have the best Kansas city barbecue. This is where it all begins. We still cook with open wood. Their smoker can cook five full cases of brisket each day. In addition to pulled pork, burnt ends, smoked chicken. Need I say more. What's the secret to stand out? Barbecue, dry rub seasoning, no sauce, no show it stays out here to cool off *** little bit and then goes into the cooler. He slices it, gets it ready for the restaurant and smokehouse cook. Don lang knows his stuff. I'm the smokehouse cook. I've been about 14 years. Don, is this your favorite barbecue? Is it my favorite barbecue. But of course it's always my favorite barbecue. Hey, do yourself *** favor and get *** pen and paper ready for the experts. Order sausage is really good briskets, awesome, ham, turkey, sliced pork, pulled pork beans, but the barbecue isn't the only thing here with some authentic flavor When the weather is nice, visitors can enjoy Casey pork and baked beans with some Kansas city music. That here is our outdoors blues garden and we usually have *** beer tent in the far corner. That's where the music plays. Sounds like *** perfect afternoon to me. So what are the locals like to order? Take it away. Stephen guys at work talk highly of this place. So I ordered *** couple slabs of the baby back ribs, brisket, sausage beans, wow, this is quite the spread. Oh sorry, we're still going coleslaw fried mushroom fried pickles and playing dill pickle spears, feeding an army steven. I'm gonna be sharing. I don't think I could eat two slabs by myself. Once I get into, it might be *** different story. We're not judging. Hopefully when you come here, we want you to leave with *** belly full and maybe some bluesy atmosphere going on in your head and some of the best barbecue in Kansas city
