ONE OF THEM. THIS COULD BE THE BEST ONE OUT THERE. WHO DOESN’T LOVE A WIENER DOG? THEY’VE GOT WINE AND WIENERS OUT AT SMASH PARK TODAY. THIS IS FROM 6 TO 8 P.M. SO, YEAH, THE SUN WILL BE OUT OR -- SOON WILL BE OUT. TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S FOR THAT WE WILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE, BUT IT LOOKS TO BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY. YOU LOOK OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW. YESTERDAY AT THIS POINT, WE HAD AN ABSOLUTE HAZE GOING ON OUT THERE. WE HAD SMOKE RIGHT NOW LOOKING A WHOLE LOT BETTER. WE’RE AT 63 WINS OUT OF THE EAST AT NINE MILES PER HOUR. AND YOU CAN SEE OFF TO THE WEST WHERE THEY’VE GOT CLOUD COVER, IT’S STILL A LITTLE BIT WARMER, 66 FOR ATLANTIC, 64 AND CARROLL. MIDDLE 50S THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. WE’VE ALSO GOT A STRAY THUNDERSTORM SOUTH OF SIOUX CITY. WE COULD STILL SEE SOME OF THAT ACTIVITY LARGELY THROUGH THAT SOUTH WESTERN PORTION OF THE STATE THROUGHOUT THE MORNING HOURS. GOING TO BE REALLY HIT OR MISS. YOU’LL BE LUCKY IF YOU SEE THE RAIN AND WE DO NEED IT. BUT OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, WINDS MAINLY SHIFTING. WE’RE OUT OF THE EAST NOW AT AROUND 10 TO 20MPH. SO LOOKING AROUND THE METRO, IT’S LOOKING PRETTY NICE. WE’RE QUITE A BIT COOLER THAN YESTERDAY, THOUGH. AGAIN, WE TAPPED OUT MIDDLE 80S YESTERDAY. WE’RE MIDDLE 70S TODAY, 77 FOR PLEASANT HILL, WEST DES MOINES COMING IN AT THE SAME AND YOU CAN SEE THAT ISOLATED CHANCE FOR A SHOWER EARLY ON HERE THAT CLEARS OUT CLOUDS CLEAR OUT. WE’VE GOT BEAUTIFUL CONDITIONS IN YOUR FORECAST. SO NOTICE THOSE STRAY CHANCES OFF TO THE WEST, FORT DODGE, WESTWARD WILL HAVE THAT CHANCE THIS MORNING. AND EVEN INTO THE EVENING. YOU CAN SEE TRYING TO HANG ON TO A FEW OF THOSE SHOWERS. I DON’T THINK THEY’LL STICK AROUND AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT, THOUGH. WINDS, THOUGH, WILL AND WE HEAD INTO YOUR FRIDAY. STILL GENERALLY BREEZY BUT VERY SUNNY AND THAT SOUTH BREEZE WILL PICK UP IT’S GOING TO HELP TO BUOY THAT TEMPERATURE WE’RE TALKING HIGHS BACK IN THE 80S THIS WEEKEND. SO AGAIN, WE’LL HAVE THAT CHANCE FOR A LITTLE BIT OF A LIGHT HAZE OUT THERE. BUT HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND, 80 FOR YOUR DAY ON SATURDAY, 84 ON SUNDAY, MEMORIAL DAY COMING IN NEAR 90. I DO THINK WE’VE GOT A SHOT AT SOME 90S FOR OUR NEXT WEEK WOULD BE THE FIRST OF THE SEASON BUT WE ALSO HAVE MORE CHANCES FOR RAIN. THOSE WILL BE NEBULOUS HIT OR MISS JURY’S STILL OUT ON EXACTLY WHERE THOSE WILL FALL BUT I’LL KEEP YOU UPDATED WITH THE LATEST BUT LOOKING WARM AS WE HEAD INTO

Warm and sunny heading into a beautiful weekend

The front that sagged across the state has led to little moisture with current isolated showers occurring south of Sioux City. Will still carry a chance for at least an isolated shower or thunderstorm through the western portion and southwestern portion of the state this morning, but no substantial rain is expected. Temperatures stay cooler for the next couple days with highs in the mid upper 70s and we'll keep it sunny today and tomorrow as well with our breeze picking up to. Temperatures climb this weekend with highs on Saturday in the low 80s and we'll build back to near 90° by Memorial Day. Highs for much of next week top out at or near 90°. Rain chances remain nebulous and hard to pin down, but we should see some moisture finally work its way back into the state by the middle of next week.
