Kickoff time announced for 2023 Cy-Hawk football game, plus full Cyclones, Hawkeyes schedules
ALL RIGHT. WELCOME BACK ONCE AGAIN. SEAHAWKS SHOWDOWN, A GAME THAT CYCLONE FANS ARE GOING TO REMEMBER FOR A WHILE. 10 TO 7 YEAR FINAL IOWA STATE, A GAME WINNING DRIVE THAT WAS 99 YARDS CAPPED OFF BY A TOUCHDOWN PASS FROM HUNTER DECKER TO XAVIER HUTCHINSON. THEY SNAP A SIX GAME LOSING STREAK IN THIS SERIES AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, NOT MORE IMPORTANTLY, BUT AT SOMETHING OF NO MATT CAMPBELL GETS HIS ELUSIVE FIRST SEAHAWK WIN AND HE HAD COME SO CLOSE. LET’S LOOK AT MATT CAMPBELL’S HISTORY IN THIS SERIES STARTS IN 2016, 42 TO 3 LOSS 2017. THEY LOSE 44, 41, LOST 13 TO 3 AND 2018 IN THAT 2019 GAME 18/7 TEAM. AND THEN REMEMBER LAST A LOT OF PEOPLE SAYING THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN IOWA STATE’S BEST TEAM THEY’VE EVER HAD THEY STARTED THE YEAR RANKED NUMBER SEVEN. EVERYONE WAS PICKING THE THE CYCLONES TO WIN THAT GAME. COLLEGE GAMEDAY WAS THERE. WELL, THE HAWKEYES WON 2717 AND FINALLY THEY BREAK THROUGH UNDER MATT CAMPBELL AND THEY WIN 10 TO 7. AND THIS MIGHT BE THE BEST THING YOU HEAR ALL DAY. LISTEN TO THE INSPIRATION MATT CAMPBELL GAVE HIS TEAM. AND WE LET YOU GUYS IN ON A GOOD STORY. YOU CAN WRITE THIS RANDY GAME SO MY HALFTIME SPEECH WAS REVOLUTIONARY. GO NOW YOU GUYS KNOW I COACH GIRLS SOFTBALL, SIXTH GRADE GIRLS SOFTBALL. THIS SUMMER AND SO WE GOT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AND WE HAD TO PLAY OVER IN ROLAND-STORY IN THEIR THEIR VARSITY TEAM, CHANNING IN THE DUGOUT. ALL RIGHT. AND WE WERE DOWN FOR TWO AFTER THE THIRD INNING AND WE CAME OFF THE BAT AND WE SCORED THREE RUNS, GOT UP FIVE, FOUR, AND THEN WE THEN WE WENT ON ON A RUN AND I SAID, LISTEN, IF MY SIX GREAT AND THERE IS ABOUT FIVE OF OUR PLAYERS THERE, ISAIAH LEE AND A COUPLE OF THESE GUYS, I SAID, HAVE OUR SIXTH GRADE GIRLS CAN DO THIS AGAINST ROLAND-STORY FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP. YOU GUYS CAN GET THIS FIGURED OUT HERE IN THE SECOND HALF. SO YOU KNOW, THERE’S MY INSPIRATION. THAT’S WHAT THAT’S WHAT GOT US THE WIN. SIXTH GRADE. GILBERT GIRLS SOFTBALL GUYS AND FANS ARE GOING TO THANK GILBERT GIRLS SOFTBALL FOR A LONG TIME. ONCE AGAIN, WE SEND IT OUT TO SCOTT REISER AND SHANNON EARHART. THEY CONTINUE OUR COVERAGE FROM IOWA CITY AND A LOT OF HAPPY LEAVING IOWA CITY. RIGHT. YOU’LL. YEAH, ALL RIGHT. I CAN’T HEAR JEFF AND I GOT A BIG NIGHT NIGHT. ALL RIGHT. WELCOME BACK, CARNEY STADIUM. IT IS A MISERABLE, DREARY, RAINY DAY OUTSIDE YET AGAIN FOR THE HAWKEYES. BUT HEY, FOR THE CYCLONES. THEY ARE SINGING IN THE RAIN. AND IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR IOWA STATE’S PLAYERS AND FANS. YES, THERE WERE SOME FANS, FAMILY MEMBERS. WE SHOWED YOU SOME OF THE VIDEO EARLIER OF THE TROPHY BEING HOISTED, COMING BACK TO AMES. FIRST TIME THE CYCLONES WILL HAVE IT SINCE 2014. AND WE WERE RUNNING AROUND LIKE CRAZY TRYING TO GET SHOTS LIKE THIS. SHANNON AND I, I MEAN, YOU REALLY SAW THE JOY, ESPECIALLY 100 DEKKER SPACE. OH, MY GOSH. YOU COULD SEE HOW HAPPY HE WAS. AND HE WAS REALLY HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE. YOU CAN SEE HIM ON THE SIDELINES SMILING. YOU KNOW, IT’S A SPECIAL MOMENT LIKE THAT. ON THE FLIP SIDE, SOME IOWA REACTED. THEY WERE NOT VERY GOOD. THEY DID NOT PLAY VERY GOOD. THEIR DEFENSE WAS STRONG. BUT IT JUST WAS NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE UP FOR THEIR OFFENSE. YEAH, BUT THE CYCLONES. THIS WIN MEANS EVERYTHING FOR STATE. IT MEANS OIL. YOU KNOW, ALL THE OLDER GUYS THAT WE’VE HAD COME THROUGH THE PAST, TEAMMATES, YOU KNOW, AND WITNESSING WHAT’S HAPPENED AND THIS BEING MY FIRST TIME ACTUALLY PLAYING IT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME, LIKE GROWING UP AS A KID, LIKE EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T NECESSARILY HAVE A TEAM THAT I LIKE BEING ABLE TO BE ON IOWA STATE AND SEE WHAT THEY’VE HAD TO GO THROUGH THESE LAST HOWEVER MANY YEARS, YOU KNOW, AND WHEN THIS MEANS IT JUST MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME. YOU KNOW, YOU HEAR ABOUT IT FROM PLAYERS FROM THE PAST WHO NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO BEAT THEM. AND, YOU KNOW, IT JUST YOU JUST FEEL LIKE, YOU KNOW, IT’S KIND OF LIKE I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT HONESTLY. I JUST SO MANY PEOPLE POURED INTO THIS, YOU KNOW, THIS PROGRAM AND THEY BUILT THE FOUNDATION FOR THIS TEAM, YOU KNOW, JUST TO HAVE US, AS YOU KNOW, THIS NEW SENIOR CLASS KIND OF, YOU KNOW, STAMP THAT NFL GREAT. AND, YOU KNOW, THE ANALYSTS CHARGE THE THE THE BLOCK PARTIES YOU KNOW THEY THEIR NAMES DON’T GO DOWN FOR ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY’RE YOU KNOW, THEY’RE WHAT GOT US HERE. I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO OUR ALUMNI. I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO UNIVERSITY AND OUR FAN BASE AND, YOU KNOW, I’VE SAID THIS MULTIPLE TIMES. WHAT’S MADE IT REALLY SPECIAL TO BE HERE AT IOWA STATE IS, THE UNITY OF OUR FAN BASE AND THE GROWTH OF OUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM, ALIGNING ONE OVER THE COURSE OF NOW SEVEN YEARS HERE. I DO WANT TO WRAP UP AROUND ABOUT ALL GUYS. WE JUST COULD NOT PULL OUT THE WIN. AND IT WAS BECAUSE OF THIS, WE’RE OFTEN DEEPLY SLOPPY. IT DIDN’T SEEM LIKE THEY REALLY CARED WHEN THEY WERE ON THE FIELD. FERENTZ HE SAID IN THE PRESS CONFERENCE THAT HE WAS UPSET THAT MONTY PART OF THAT TD WAS IN GOOD AND HE THOUGHT THAT HE DID CROSS THE LINE. AND YOU TALKED TO SOME OF HIS OTHER COACHES UPSTAIRS WHO ALSO SAID HE CROSSED THE LINE. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THAT DID NOT WORK OUT FOR THEM. BUT IT WAS ALSO ON THE HAWKEYES. THEY MISSED A BUNCH OF 5050 BALLS, JUST PLAYED A LITTLE BIT LAZY TO ME, BUT THEY EMPHASIZED WATCHING THE TAPE NEXT GAME. SO WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO SEE WHAT THEY DO THERE IF ONE GUY ON OFFENSE FAILS TO EXECUTE HIS JOB ON ANY GIVEN PLAY, IT’S USUALLY A BAD PLAY. WE USUALLY WE DON’T BENEFIT FROM ONE GUY HAVING TO HAVE A MESS UP OR A MISTAKE. SO I MADE MISTAKES TODAY, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. AND I’VE PLAYED A THOUSAND PLUS SNAPS OUT THERE ON THAT FIELD, SO I’LL BE THE FIRST ONE TO SAY THAT I DEFINITELY MESSED UP TODAY. WHEN I GO LOOK AT THE FILM TOMORROW AND I KNOW I MESSED UP ON SOME PLAYS. SO I DON’T THINK I DON’T THINK IT’S AN EXPERIENCE ISSUE AT ALL. BUT JUST ONE GUY MESSING UP IN ANY PARTICULAR PLAY. BUT YOU REMEMBER NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT STANDOUT PERFORMERS NOW FOR THE CYCLONES. THE CONVERSATION STARTS AND ENDS WITH XAVIER HUTCHINSON, ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER FOR IOWA STATE. I THOUGHT HE WAS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE FIELD. 19 TARGETS. HE WAS TARGETED 19 TIMES. HE CAUGHT 11 OF THOSE BALLS, 98 YARDS AND A TOUCHDOWN, THE ONLY TOUCHDOWN FOR THE CYCLONES THAT IS THE ONE THAT MATTER. THEY FINALLY CAPPE
