The Pacifica Co-op Nursery School has a history rich in service to the community. Housed in a World War II era Quonset hut, the school's structure was originally used as housing for San Franciscans in need of public assistance during the Great Depression.
The school itself began operating out of the structure in 1960 after being outfitted for use as a classroom facility. As of 2014, the school has provided invaluable child rearing education and a connection to the broader community to families for almost 55 years. Many who attended the school as children continue to participate at the school by bringing their own children into the program. This multi-generational participation demonstrates the inspirational quality of the school and the supportive experience it provides.
