Four Wheel Campers Announces New Orvis Special Edition Camper

Our friends at Four Wheel Campers just released a brand-new camper collaboratively designed with the fly-fishing experts at Orvis. The official partnership, which began in early 2023, took over a year to finalize.

The new Orvis Edition camper features a plethora of upgrades not found in the traditional Four Wheel Camper pop-up. These upgrades include a lockable rod bunker for up to six fly rods, robust water and rub resistant fabrics, and a “mudroom” with waterproof storage and drain for wet gear. The camper also boasts a vertically mounted exterior L-track system for flexible gear mounting, as well as upgraded cabinetry, countertops, and appliances to ensure comfort in all seasons.

The special edition Orvis camper is available only in the Hawk (6.5 foot) and Grandby (8 foot) full-size truck camper models. The Hawk Orvis Edition camper lists for $38,000 while the Grandby Orvis Edition lists for $39,000.

“We were fortunate that several influential Orvis dealers owned Four Wheel Campers, explained Dan Welty, Four Wheel Camper CEO. “These dealers provided the gateway to Orvis, kicking off many conversations. Securely storing multiple rods and reels, and having a mudroom were quickly identified as key features. After eight months of design, engineering, and production, in April [2024] the first two campers were installed on Orvis and Four Wheel Camper trucks for a test run into the Sierras for a four-day fishing and camping trip, the campers performed well and everyone’s spirits remained high!”

Standard features for the special edition camper include Orvis Black or Grey color fabrics, bamboo countertops, durable grey coin flooring, a 135 amp lithium battery, an Isotherm two-way refrigerator/freezer, a flush mount kitchen sink with electric water pump, two 10-pound propane tanks, and a DC-DC alternator charging system. In a move that we are particular happy to see, anglers can choose between either a portable induction or propane stove for cooking.

Like all Four Wheel Campers, the Orvis Special Edition camper features the company’s all-aluminum, “flex-frame” construction, aluminum exterior sides and roof, rugged pop-up liner with four windows, privacy curtains, a 12 volt power fan, and a 20 gallon fresh water holding tank.

When it comes to options, Four Wheel Campers has really upped the game for this special edition camper. Options include an additional 135 amp hour lithium battery for 270 amp hours total, a Redarc Manager 30 battery management system, a solar power system up to 500 watts (four 125 watt panels), a DC air conditioner, Truma furnace and water heating systems, and a larger Isotherm 130L refrigerator/freezer. Interior or Exterior roof lift systems can also be ordered.

“Given the stellar Orvis reputation, with a long legacy of innovation and customer focused products and customer service, we concluded that Orvis would be the perfect company to partner with on a purpose built camper for fishing,” Welty said.

  1. Hi! I have a 2022 tundra SR5 Double Cab 4×2 truck. Specs state it can handle a 1940lbs payload. I recently purchased a 4 Wheel camper model Hawk. Do I need to bolster the rear suspension on the truck. It’s pretty beefy, and the camper is about 1400 lbs. Thanks for a reply.
