Torklift Releases New ApexAnchors Internal Tie-Down System for Truck Campers

Our friends at Torklift International just released a new frame-mounted tie-down for truck campers called the ApexAnchors. Unlike Torklift’s legacy frame-mounted tie-down system, which mounts outside the truck bed, the ApexAnchors system mounts inside the truck bed, providing easy-to-access points for turnbuckle connections. This makes the “hidden” ApexAnchors system perfect for overlanders and truck camper adventurers who not only prefer a cleaner look but who also like to explore off-road.

The ApexAnchors are designed to pass through the bed of the truck and are bolted directly to the truck’s frame. No drilling is required. Unlike the standard cargo anchor points provided by truck manufacturers, which are intended for light, temporary use, Torklift’s new ApexAnchors tie-down anchor points are rated for heavy duty use with each anchor point rated to handle up to 2,000 pounds. Each anchor point is rotatable 360 degrees and stealthy, meaning each anchor point can be retracted when not in use.

While the new ApexAnchors is made especially for truck campers, it can also be used to secure motorcycles, ATVs, and other dynamic loads with a high center of gravity. Truck Camper Adventure strongly recommends using a frame-mounted tie-down system as opposed to other tie-down systems made by Brophy and HappiJac.

The obvious benefit of Torklift’s new ApexAnchors design is that it preserves the truck’s original ground clearance, optimizing it for off-road truck camper use. Torklift’s legacy tie-down system, with it’s poor ground clearance, was often a liability for off-roaders as this 2016 incident in our truck camper clearly illustrates. The ApexAnchors system solves the low-clearance issue by providing a hidden tie-down system that won’t snag on rocks and other off-road obstacles.

According to Torklift, the ApexAnchors are designed to perfectly match a wide range of mid-size and full-size truck makes and models, ensuring a secure setup for your truck camper rig. According to Torklift, the system is ideal for safely anchoring truck camper makes including Cirrus, Four Wheel Campers, Scout, Travel Lite, and more.

Torklift plans to release a kit for the Toyota Tacoma kit first followed by the ever-popular Ford F-150. The company will follow-up with the rest of the Ford F-series trucks then other brands like Ram, Chevy, and GMC.

No doubt, Torklift drew some inspiration for the new ApexAnchor design from our friends at Four Wheel Campers who have been using an in-bed tie-down system for decades.

Torklift is also offering new spring-loaded turnbuckles with built-in tensioners, called the FastGun Apex and Apex iXL, to use with the new ApexAnchors tie-down system. The FastGun Apex is a close variant of the famed Torklift FastGun and latches to tighten; the Apex iXL twists to tighten just like a standard, non-truck camper turnbuckle. Keeping your camper anchored to your pickup truck is obviously critical and is accomplished by using a combination of truck camper tie-downs and turnbuckles. Turnbuckles act as the “middleman,” securing the truck camper to the tie-down system of your truck.

Torklift’s new ApexAnchors product is supported by Torklift’s legendary lifetime warranty, ensuring your satisfaction and security with each use. The ApexAnchors are also made in the USA. For more information, watch the Torklift video below or visit the Torklift website at www.torklift.com.
