Zero Breeze Portable AC is a Terrific Way to Stay Cool in Summer

Looking for a low power, less intrusive way to stay cool during the summer without taking up valuable space on the roof of your camper? The Zero Breeze Mark 2 Portable Air Conditioner is an excellent alternative. The 2,300 BTU, 24 volt unit weighs only 16.5 pounds and uses only 240 watts, far less that larger AC units that consume between 800 and 1,200 watts. This makes it perfect for smaller rigs with one or two lithium batteries like those found in truck campers, toppers, and vans that lack large solar power systems and huge lithium battery banks.

Unlike the traditional AC that cools the entire camper, the Zero Breeze Mark 2 portable delivers targeted cooling to your sleeping area. This focused approach ensures maximum comfort, while avoiding wasted energy in your rig. Power for the portable, 24 volt AC is supplied through either the Mark 2’s 35 amp hour lithium battery pack or through a direct electrical connection to either a 110 volt AC power source or a DC power source using a 12 to 24 volt adapter that must be purchased separately. According to the company’s website, the Mark 2 battery pack will last up to six hours on a full charge.

The Zero Breeze Mark 2 is easy to setup and use. No vehicle modifications or complex installations are needed to run the portable AC. Similar to setting up a fan, simply place the unit near your sleeping area, extend the dual-hose system and the condensation tube through a window, and turn the unit on. What can be easier than that?

The Mark 2 consumes very little power. The portable AC uses less than 1 kilowatt hour per night, compared to a typical rooftop air conditioner that may require up to 5 kilowatt hours or more. This drastic reduction in energy usage translates to less strain on your camper’s battery. Not only that, but traditional AC systems rely on heavy power consumption, leading to frequent use of generators or large, expensive solar setups to recharge the batteries. The Mark 2’s smaller, efficient design helps avoid these additional costs.

Still not convinced that the Mark 2 portable AC is a viable option? Here are some real-world performance numbers of the Zero Breeze Mark 2 AC used in a typical hard-side truck camper:

  • 4:42 PM: Starting temperature was 93.2F.
  • 6:03 PM: Temperature dropped to 66F.
  • 7:10 PM: Temperature continued to decrease to 54F.
  • 9:44 AM the next day: Temperature stabilized at 60F.

The Zero Breeze Mark 2 is small and lightweight. The portable AC measures 20 inches long, 10 inches wide, and 11 inches high and weighs only 16.5 pounds (the battery pack weighs an additional 12 pounds). Not only is the Mark 2 easy to handle, but it’s also quiet. The portable unit operates at only 52dba, considerably less than the traditional rooftop AC unit. The portability also means that it can be used practically anywhere like in a camper, a tent, a cabin, at home, or even in a vehicle or semi-truck while parked.

There are several ways to operate the Zero Breeze Mark 2 off-grid in your camper. Owners can use either a 1,000 watt inverter, a deep cycle battery using a 12 to 24 volt adapter, or the Mark 2’s battery pack. A generator, of course, can also be used. Owners can also operate the AC (or recharge the Mark 2 battery pack) by using a portable power station like the Jackery 2000 Pro or by Zero Breeze’s ElecHive 2500 portable power unit, the latter of which includes a 24 volt plug for more efficient operation.

The Mark 2 is excellent way to keep cool without use of a standard roof-top unit. The portability of the Mark 2 makes it an excellent alternative for those who are looking for an easy way to stay cool. The only criticism we have is why the 12 to 24 volt adapter isn’t provided with the Zero Breeze Mark 2 purchase. If the unit was designed to be used off-grid, the adapter should be included.

The Zero Breeze Mark 2 lists for $1,273. Order now and receive a 25 percent discount. This cannot be combined with other discounts. This is an automatic 25 percent discount and does not require any discount code.
