Today, the Ford Motor Company, announced that it has sold more than 700,000 F-Series trucks in 2023, making it the best-selling truck in the United States for the 47th consecutive year. Moreover, the F-Series truck remains the best-selling vehicle in the nation for the 42nd year in a row.
“The F-Series is a testament to our commitment to excellence, innovation, and understanding the needs of our customers” said Robert Kaffl, Ford’s Director of U.S. Sales. “Our trucks are Built Ford Tough, and they embody the strength, reliability, and versatility that our customers have come to rely on for nearly half a century. And F-Series represents the best of Ford and how we’re creating new digital experiences: it features available technologies like Pro Power Onboard, which helps customers power work sites or even their home in the event of a power outage; features that makes it easier to hitch and tow a trailer, and even BlueCruise hands-free highway driving.”
One key to Ford’s success, is the company’s diversity of powertrain offerings. The company understands that customers have unique needs, whether they’re on the job site, the farm, or embarking on a weekend adventure in a truck camper. Ford’s truck’s offered a wide variety of engines, including the popular Godzilla 7.3L gasoline engine, the Power Stroke 6.7L turbo diesel, an the Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid.
Ford continues to push the envelope of electrical vehicle development as well with the F-150 Lightning leading the charge as the best-selling full-size electric pickup truck in the U.S., completing the U.S. truck leadership triple crown.
For those looking to haul a truck camper, Ford’s F-Series GVWR/payload ratings lead or are comparable with the competition with the Ford F-150, F-250, and F-350, F-450, and F-550, achieving excellent ratings in their respective weight classes.
“The enduring legacy of the F-Series is not just a result of our relentless pursuit of improvement, but also a reflection of the trust between our company and customers. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our customers and are committed to continuing to earn their business every single day,” Kaffl said.
Hi Mike,
I recently read the article regarding the Ford F-series trucks having earned 47 consecutive years for being best selling truck. Terrific for Ford. We have owned 5 Ford truck at this point in time and I must say that the get better and better every year.
As mentioned, we’re on our 5th Ford truck now. We specifically ordered this latest F350 Lariat CC SB with our Arctic Fox 811 truck camper in mind. This new 2023 F350 was ordered with 3 select and specific options in mind; 1. the camper package. 2. the truck camper certificate. and 3. the 360° camera system. There are a few things that people need to know. More so the people from Ford F-series staff. The camper package is a nice addition to the truck as it is designed to focus the design aspects for hauling and towing a camper. Ford has offered this option for many years! Have the “Truck Camper Certificate” is a nice document to has associated with the truck as well. The 360° camera system is also a wonderful option to have. However, not so nice if you want to actually haul a truck camper around in the bed of your new truck. In our case, we have to remove our tailgate from the truck to install our AF 811. This means that all electrical features to the tailgate have to be unplugged from the chassis connections. In this electrical harness group is a connection for the tailgate rear camera. Once the electrical harness is disconnected and the tailgate is removed, the entire 360° camera system goes dead. This includes the bed camera, front grille camera, and the exterior rearview mirrors. The dash screen has nothing on it! It is just a blue screen.
Other than the 360° camera system going blank and not working, there is another item of concern. The “Tow/Haul” mode selection is limited. It’s mode selection is limited to only traditional trailers and 5th wheel trailers. There is no selection for a truck camper even though the truck is a “Camper Special” with a “Truck Camper Certificate”. Go figure!
Ford F-series is prized with 47 years of the best selling truck and a recent survey of truck camper owners have put the Ford Super Duty as a top pick among all of the truck choices on the market. I do hope that Ford F-series realizes that they have a market focus and that they can do better in this Truck Camper Adventure market share.
All the best,
Allen McCarriston
